Recipes & allergens
Recipes and allergen answers the whole floor can trust.

What you get
Kitchen and bar recipes with allergens detected from ingredients, and a lookup for the floor.
Kitchen and bar recipes in one place
Write recipes as one list or in components like crust and filling, add photos, and let the team search by name or category.
Allergens detected from ingredients
Start from preset allergen categories, add the ingredient terms that match each one, and Barley detects allergens from each recipe's ingredient list.
An allergen lookup for servers
Staff search a menu item, allergen, or ingredient and see which dishes match, with a clear reminder to confirm severe allergies with the kitchen.
Batch scaling without rewriting
Multiply a recipe by 1.5, 3/4, or any amount to see batch quantities. The saved recipe stays exactly as written.
Common questions
Good to know.
Does the allergen lookup replace asking the kitchen?
No. It's a quick first answer during service. For severe allergies and cross-contamination, Barley reminds staff to confirm with the kitchen or bar.
Can I use my own allergen list?
Yes. Presets are only a starting point: rename, edit, retire, or add allergen categories and the ingredient terms that match them.
Can I track shelf life for batched items?
Yes. Batched drinks can carry a shelf life, and prep lists track shelf life for prepared items on hand.
